Types of Storage Facilities
Space can be a serious issue for those living in cramped apartments or small houses. Without a basement, attic or garage, sometimes closet space just doesn’t suffice. One solution to this problem is to use a storage facility. A storage facility is a rent out, small space to store surplus items. With so many to choose from, it is easy to find one that is a good fit.
Self Storage
This type of storage is for individuals who need a little extra space for common household items. Units are usually rented out on a monthly basis. Renters provide their own lock and key so storage facility employees do not have access to the space. Storage units usually lack windows to protect contents, and have roll-up metal doors allowing for easy access. They can range in sizes comparable to large walk-in closets, small bedrooms and one or two car garages. Some self storage companies use security guards, cameras or alarms to protect the units from theft.
Mobile Storage
This type of storage is usually used by anyone moving to a smaller residence, or living in an area for a time and cannot take their belongings. A storage company delivers an empty storage container, which is then filled by the renter. The company then returns for the container and stores it at a secure storage center.
Outdoor Storage
This is an option for those with RVs, boats or additional vehicles they don’t have room for parking. An outdoor storage facility is usually a large, fenced parking lot that has pavement or crushed gravel. Renters park their vehicles and take them out of storage only when they need to use them. Many outdoor storage facilities offer valet parking, wash stalls and dump stations for RVs.
