How to Choose an Embroidery Sewing Machine

To choose an embroidery sewing machine you must think how you will be using it. The right machine really depends on the size and type of designs you wish to create. Making a quick outline of your intended ideas can help you choose the right embroidery sewing machine.

  1. Determine how you will use the embroidery machine. If it is going to be used for businesses choose a 4 head machine.  If the embroidery machine is to be for personal use choose a single head machine.

  2. Hoop size should be considered when purchasing an embroidery machine. A smaller hoop size can limit the designs you can create. Hoop sizes can range 4 x 4, to 8 x 12. If you intend to create larger designs at one point or another than the 8-by-12 would work for you. It will give you the flexibility to do smaller designs while leaving the option to create larger designs.

  3. When choosing a machine makes sure that there is training and support locally. It is helpful if you have local assistance in case of an issue with the embroidery machine. Local training can help if you need further instruction.

  4. Determine the type of software format the machine is using. Every embroidery machine manufacturer uses a brand specific software format. The software format should be easily available and can be found online.

  5. Look into the cost of digitizing software for the machine. Creating your own designs requires special software that typically is not included when purchasing the machine.
