How to Operate a Propane Fireplace

With a propane fireplace you only need a propane tank, the remote control or a turning knob to turn on or shut off your fire. You can even control the flame size and propane fireplace creates a realistic flame. It is difficult to notice the difference between an actual wood burning fireplace and a propane fireplace due to the ceramic inserts made to look like wood.

  • Turn off the shut off valve of propane fireplace manually until it is fully open and propane gas is flowing into the fireplace. Failure to do this means that propane gas will not flow into the fireplace and hence you cannot light the igniter.

  • Remember that a propane fireplace does not use wood and the only thing you require is propane gas, which is clean and easy to use. This takes away your worry about soot and ashes, or chopping wood and lighting it. Simply be sure the fireplace is properly installed.

  • Turn the control knob of your propane fireplace in a counterclockwise direction until it is in line with the pilot setting, and then hold the control button in. Most propane fireplaces have heat settings in number form from one to five, and their control knobs are either off or on pilot setting.

  • Hold in the control knob for a few seconds and press the igniter button then release it. The igniter will light the blue flame although you may be forced to press it rapidly a few times before it ignites.

  • After the pilot lights, continue holding the control knob for a few more seconds until the light turns to purple and the tip turns to bright red then you can release the knob.

  • Turn the knob to your desired heat setting.
