About Avon, CT
Avon is a suburb of Hartford Connecticut, nestled cozily within the Farmington Valley region. Originally settled in 1645, it was not until 1830 that a land charter was granted by the Duke of York, and Avon, originally known as Northington broke off to form its own town. Of interest is the Pine Grove School House built in 1865, and still well preserved to this day. Also located in Avon is the prestigious boarding school for boys, Avon Old Farms. And if you are in the mood for a bite to eat, try out the elegant bosc Kitchen and Wine Bar or the family friendly First and Last Tavern for a wonderful meal that is sure to please.
