Gordon is located in Letcher County known for Bad Branch Falls a State Nature Preserve that features a 60 ft. waterfall. It is 2,639 acres and is home to one of the largest concentrations of rare and endangered species in the state. Among the biggest companies in Gordon are Paul's Repair Shop and Rinker Materials. The biggest schools in Gordon are served by the Letcher County Public Schools. The sale of alcohol is prohibited in Gordon as well as most of the county.
