The village of Afton, named for a stream in Scotland, is located on the Susquehanna River in Chenango County, New York. Major attractions include the Afton Golf Course and the Afton Museum, offering many interesting and educational exhibits and programs. Each year in July, the Afton Fair is held here and in August, the Arts and Crafts Show. Some of the businesses in Afton are Five Star Sound & Productions and Main Street Grill & Bakery. Afton Nursery School and Afton School are located here. One of the best places to visit when you are in Afton is the nearby Chenango Valley State Park, with two kettle lakes and fishing, camping, a golf course and trails. A well-known resident of Afton has included Mormon prophet, Joseph Smith.
