About Aquebogue, NY
The hamlet of Aquebogue, located at the head of the bay on the North Fork of Long Island, New York, is known for its wineries and fertile farmland. Major attractions include the Paumanok Vineyards and Van der Ber's Garden Center. In the summer and fall of each year, you can enjoy the great wine tastings at the Palmer, Paumanok and Comtesse Therese Vineyards. Another popular autumn destination is Stakey's Pumpkin Farm, where your kids can run a corn maze, ride the ponies and play in the Bounce House while you take a leisurely hayride or shop in its country store. In addition to the vineyards, important local businesses include Vineyard Caterers, Luna Mesa Day Spa East, Lighthouse Yacht Sales, and the Aquebogue Country Mini Market. The local schools are Aquebogue Elementary (K-4) and Our Redeemer Lutheran School (PK-6). If you're planning to stay a few days, check out J & S Reeve Summer Cottages, where you can set up housekeeping in a heated and air-conditioned cabin, complete with kitchen, on three acres of country waterfront. A famous Aquebogue wedding took place on August 29, 1998, when Atoosa Behnegar married commodities trader Ari Rubenstein at The Vineyard, thereby becoming Big Momma Rubenstein.
