Brant is a town in Erie County, New York. The town was named after the Mohawk leader Joseph Brant. Major attractions include Evangola State Park. Each year the town holds its annual Pirate Festival. Among the biggest companies in Brant are Koz Korner Kennel, and Chiavettas Catering Service. The Brant Elementary School was built between 1923 and 1926. It had one room and one teacher. Children of all ages were taught in one room. One of the best places to visit when you are in Brant is Evangola State Park. Famous persons from Brant include Joseph Brant who was born in 1742 on the banks of the Ohio River and given the Indian name of Thayendanegea, meaning "he places two bets." He inherited the status of Mohawk chief from his father.
