About East Aurora, NY
The village of East Aurora is quaint and traditional. Located in Erie county and 15 minutes away from Buffalo, the second largest city in New York, it boasts some of the small town charm everyone is looking for. Close to the Great Lake Erie, the latest count of population registers East Aurora at approximately 7,000 people. It is known for its quiet cafes, accessible shopping, adhering to Western New York traditions and as the home of President Millard Fillmore from 1826 to 1830. Major attractions in the area include Niagara Falls, the city of Buffalo, the birthplace of Fisher-Price and the Erie County Botanical Gardens. It is also home to Vidlers, a traditional toy store renowned in the area. Every year East Aurora plays host to a huge street festival where merchants and vendors are able to sell their arts and crafts to the locals. The village also takes this time to promote their small town feel by having the children of the community set up lemonade and cookie stands all along the main streets. Among the biggest employers in the village are Astronics and Cenergy. One of the best things to do in East Aurora is to visit the Toy Museum or Knox farms, a 663 nature preserve on the outskirts of town. An interesting fact about the town is that it was home to the first person to own the Buffalo Sabres after they became part of the NHL franchise.
