About Rush, NY
The town of Rush, located in the southwest portion of Monroe County, is a suburb of Rochester, NY with a total area of 30.7 square miles. Rush was established in 1815, and despite its location just ten miles outside of a major city, Rush still manages to maintain its rural, friendly, small-town feel. An important business in Rush is Vern Vallance Septic Cleaning, while two popular pet-centric establishments are Pawlas Pet Salon and Petcetera Quality Home Petcare. One of Rush's major educational institutions is Leary Elementary School, and Rush is also home to two important museums: the New York Museum of Transporation and the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum. The outdoor enthusiast will enjoy a day on the Lehigh Valley/Black Diamond Trail, which runs through the town of Rush and is used today by bikers, hikers, joggers and cross-country skiers. Tree lovers in particular should not miss a visit to the Rush Oak Openings, one of only 20 oak savannahs remaining in the world today.
