About Silver Creek, NY
A small village on the shores of Lake Erie, Silver Creek is situated in the northern portion of Chautauqua County in the state of New York. The town has a population of about 3,000 people and lies within the boundaries of the Town of Hanover. Silver Creek is home the famous Skew Arch Railroad Bridge, an architectural anomaly as it is built on a skewed angle instead of in a normal arch. Also, Silver Creek was home to the famous black walnut tree that grew to be about 10 feet in diameter. Unfortunately, after the tree had been made into a store, a museum in London purchased it only to have it, and the tree, burn down in later years. Some of the biggest businesses in Silver Creek include Quality Markets, Rite Aid, Rem-Tronics, Excelco and Petri Baking Products. Every year the village celebrates an annual Grape Festival which began in 1968. There is always a parade and a Miss Festival of Grapes Pageant. The education in the village is operated under the Silver Creek Central School District. The school is one building that contains grades K-12 and it was recognized by Business First as the number one overachieving school district in Western New York. Silver Creek has beautiful beaches on the shores of Lake Erie and is about a 30 minute drive from the second largest city in the state, Buffalo. The town is made up of welcoming residents who cherish the town they grew up in. One of the best things to do would be to visit Sunset Bay and swim in the clear water of the Great Lake.
