Sylvan Beach is a part of the Oneida area of New York known for its Oneida Indian Nation casino and its rich farmland. Major attractions include the Sylvan Beach Amusement Park and Carello's Carousel. Each year in the summer season there is Canal Fest. Among the biggest companies in Sylvan Beach are Goode Fun Inc., and Fabian Bela & Sons Construction. There are no schools in Sylvan Beach; the town's students attend the nearby Verona Beach School System. One of the best places to visit when you are in Sylvan Beach is the town's beach on the shore of Oneida Lake. Verona Beach State Park is just south of town.
