About West Nyack, NY
Some people think that you can get no smaller than a village, but then you have never been to West Nyack, NY. West Nyack is classified as a hamlet and is part of the town of Clarkson, close to New York City. However, though it may be small, this hamlet is home to one of the largest malls in the country, Palisades Center Mall. Other places of interest include Mount Moor Cemetery and the Rockland Center for the Arts, which has been open and operating for over 57 years. When you are in West Nyack, New York City is just a hop, skip and a jump away but it feels as if you are not anywhere near one of the biggest cities in the country. West Nyack also has a phenomenal school system with its elementary school, Strawtown Elementary School, becoming a Blue Ribbon Award winner in 2007. With this win, Rockland County, where West Nyack is located, became the home of two of these schools. West Nyack is famous for the story of the Clarksville Witch which was the last witch trial held in New York. One of the biggest employers is West Nyack Engine Co. that celebrated its 100 year anniversary in 2010. Though the town has changed names three times, it is unique in its history and great attractions.
