Williamsport is a part of central Tennessee known for its beautiful antebellum homes and scenic hiking trails. Nearby attractions include storied Rippavilla Plantation, which preserves the history of the site’s importance in the Civil War Battle of Spring Hill, and beautiful Ferguson Hall, a fine example of Greek Revival architecture. Each September the Jailbreak Triathlon is held at nearby Chickasaw Trace Park. One of the best places to visit when you are in Williamsport is the nearby James K. Polk Ancestral Home, the area’s first brick home built in 1817 and childhood home to the 11th President of the United States.
