What type of student attends Eye Level?Eye Level of Malverne is designed to work with students ages 3-14 in Math, Reading, and Writing. As an enrichment center, we work with students who are just starting their education as early as 3 years old, students who are struggling in school, and students who are advanced looking for an academic challenge their school is not able to provide.What skills/topics are children working on?All students must first take a diagnostic assessment to see where they will be placed in our curriculum. Since Eye Level does not work on a specfic grade level or age, we rely on our assessment to place students in our curriculum to target the skills and topics that are specific to their individual needs. We have kindergarteners who are working on letter recognition and others are working on beginning reading. We have 5th graders who are practicing their multiplication facts and 5th graders who are working on equations. Each child is working on a specific program designed for their needs, not a grade level. This allows students to progress far past the work required of them in their classroom.What are sessions at Eye Level like?Our sessions run for an hour per subject (Math and English). The students will be greeted by their Eye Level teacher and work on their specific workbooks. The teachers will guide them through their work while also allowing them independent practice which builds their confidence. Our Math program has Basic Thinking Math Skills and Critical Thinking Math. Our English program works on reading, writing, and listening. Each subject has flashcards and manipulatives to support learning.
